Effect of Hot Rolling on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Stir Cast AZ 61 Alloy with Minor Additions

Objective: The microstructure and mechanical properties of modified AZ 61 alloy -graphene composite (1wt. %, 2wt. % graphene) were examined under various conditions temperature rolling, number roll pass, the amount deformation. Method: rolling operation was carried out in a laboratory scale with initial stock 4000C. temperatures varied kept at 3500C 3000C, 2500C. After few passes, rolled stocks reinserted within furnace to make up for drop. continued until thickness reduction reached 35%. passes between 1-4. It observed that influence quite sensitive reach target deformation ~35%. Finding: study on structure hot graphene-reinforced AZ-61 magnesium minor additions scandium calcium is scarce literature. Novelty: In present investigation attempts are made probe into effect graphene reinforcement compositionally by expectation higher level strengthening. results showed maximum hardness values ranged 101HV 106HV whereas, maxima tensile yield strength found be 266 .82 MPa 102 an elongation percent 25%. By refining microstructure, dynamic recrystallization enhanced samples’ ductility. achieves excellent structural homogeneity after 2 wt. 3500C.
